zero oil pressure

I couldnt get oil pressure when first cranking my motor (tried for about 30 secs of constant cranking), but then I thought stuff it, and just started it up.
Oil pressure came up straight away.

And I had the engine upside down, oil pickup off, etc.

Hey all,

Ran the water lines, wired alt etc on the weekend and ran the engine up to temp (happily sat at 85 to 90degC).

Oil pressure at idle when at temp was about 30psi though - is that too low?

Not sure what it was at revs - another of those little things I didnt check because I was too busy sniffing fumes and seeing how loud the engine was at 3000rpm (98Db if you're interested... LOUD!!! haha!)
