If I disconnect my afm the motor starts immediately and revs as if it is connected .

Yes and I bet its blowing black smoke and fuils up at around 2000 rpm when you try to rev it.

Try PM's to anyone you know who has gone aftermarket or is parting an engine to see if you can get theirs.

I have a mate in Melbourne doing some ringing around for me. Normaly he can find anything.

But I`m getting that desperate to take this rig driving I`d drive to sydney and back today as this is the only thing stopping me taking the lux for a spin.

Nope and it drives quite well considering.Admittedly it does blow black smoke if I disconnect the tps as well and then start it.
I have a spare afm if you are real desperate but I dont think it would do you much good if you cant get it to go in limp mode without it .
By the way what codes does the onboard diagnosis spit out when you activate it?

Its all ok, got a new AFM today and it now works sweet as. I had to drive to Melbourne and back and the only one I could find cost me $300 but I don`t care as now my hilux IS going for a drive. We were leaving today at 2pm, now we are leaving tomorrow morning about 6am.
