I just raised my TOYOTA HILUX MK5 with 4" suspension and 3" body Lift Kits. It currently has a 2.8L naturally asperated diesel engine. I would like to put the 4.7L 2UZFE V8 engine from a 4runner in it. I was wondering the following:

1) Anyone done it before? If so, any advice or pics?
2) Is the engine bay on hilux big enough?
3) Can I use the original transmission and 4 wheel drive system?
4) What are the problems I am going to run into?

I look forward to hearing from all you toyota enthusiasts and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

1) Yes, it has been done.
2) Yes, the engine bay is big enough.
3) Yes, but you'll need to get an bellhousing adaptor, custom flywheel, and a slew of other stuff.
4) Mainly mating it to a transmission, having space for an adequate radiator/fan, and routing the exhaust.

Oh yeah that would be a fun truck! I talked to a guy that put the 2UZ tranny and everything else into his 1997 Toyota Tacoma over here in California. He even got it approved by a referee in order to smog it!! He was very nervous but he did a good job of the swap. He loves it. I'll try and find the picture of his little monster truck.
