Midmounted Mazda Minitruck

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
small update, i looked online and found that the place i was going to buy the turbo from doesnt have a very good rep for delivering goods, so combined with that and their 'too good to be true' prices, i figured they probably were too good to be true and decided to buy locally. it hasn't even worked out much more anyway, due to the gst, freight, and customs charges i would've had to pay. ive still gone for the gt4294 with tial 1.15 stainless exhaust housing, v60 wastegate and q bov. im now quite poor but anticipate being quite happy when i receive the parts! :)

yay pretty parts! :D

60mm wastegate and 50mm BOV

More pictures please of the manifold.

i put some pics up in the exhaust section (and on facebook) but am re-doing the manifolds because they don't fit inside the cantilevers. bit of a bummer, but these things happen when you're designing lots of bits at the same time. ill put some up once the new ones are built

That's the bit I would re design too, the turbo is too hidden down there.

I would mount the turbo right on top of the engine (about 1 foot above) with the exhaust pipes forming a trianular cage to go with the triangular suspension theme. The turbo inlet facing forward just above cab height to suck in the cold air.

with a scoop like this, or just right up there in the airflow, maybe with a bellmouth?

i like this idea of the turbo above the engine, i could relocate my throttlebody to the top of the plenum and aim the compressor outlet downwards straight into the motor! no lag ftw!

I would just go with bellmouth, forget the scoop. Use a manifold similar idea to this and spray water meth in for the cooling.

Think outside the box, you have for everything else don't spoil it with a std engine bay style install.

Run the exhaust from the turbo straight down the CL of the car to keep the symmetry.

ive decided to go with my original plan because alternative turbo layouts just won't work, and id rather not have to either run e85 or do a water/meth injection system.

picture update time. video will be in at least a few more weeks. i made a couple of changes before taking it to a local car show...

thanks. its chrome :) the actual chassis isn't chromed, its all subframes and a couple of covers for the other parts like right at the back. it adds a little weight, but looks crazy in person so a bit of a slight tradeoff. don't ask how long ive spent hand polishing those parts to get them ready to be plated... haha

Chrome plating suspension parts and structural bolts is a big no no. The hard surface will crack under flexing and then the cracks will go through to the metal underneath. Probably not a big deal in your case as it is a show truck but not recommended for street or race cars. Also Google "chrome hydrogen embrittlement".

Nice work keep it coming.
