Hi all.
For those that have finished their conversions, I was wondering how many kms you've all put on your engines since completion and what tweaks you've had to do keep the 1UZ running nice.

I'll get the ball rolling:
Vehicle: '95 Hilux 2wd
Engine: 1UZ out of '92 UZS131
KMs: 107k
KMs since completion: 4.1k
Tweaks during conversion: Replaced all external bearings, waterpump, cambelt, thermostat etc
Tweaks since: power steering pump rebuild (x2 - didn't get it right the first time), now on to exhaust version 4

Hasn't used a drop of oil.

Cheers,

Muzz

I am about to do the same thing but to a 94 4Runner on a 2wd frame. Basically a lower station wagon when its all done. Any way do you have some detailed engine pictures? Engine mounts ex pipes and manifolds, radiator clearences etc any and all welcome. You can email me them or post it here your choice.

Thanks.

1jza21,
You're in luck. I've written up the basics of the conversion and hope to have it polished up with pics etc before the weekend. Another couple of people from the forum have approached me as well, so I'll ask Lextreme if he can host the file (its about 3MB all up with pics)

If you want info on the 4wd conversion anyway FYI, see Deon's link here: www.geocities.com/deonsv8hilux/

Muzza,

I've done around 1,000k since completion.

During the swap I:

moved the alternator to the opposite side of the engine
new engine mounts
a few bearings
headers
complete exhaust
modified resosnance chamber
remote oil filter
custom transmission adaptor
custom flywheel
Custom single plate ceramic clutch
Ford thermo fans
custom front drive shaft (it's a Range Rover)
modified sump
relocated starter motor
2" body lift to clear transmission
3" front suspension lift to clear sump
plus some things I would rather forget.

Since the car hit the road:
new clutch master cylinder
new clutch slave cylinder
a couple of small wiring problems - these are Range Rover related not to do with the conversion

Currently working on the following:
replace manual with A340 auto adapted to the Range Rover transfer case
Fitting Eaton MP112 and intercooler off a Ford Lightning
building a new sump - I think I can do better than last time
building a complete new FI engine using the group buy Ross pistons

Not much really!

Hi Zuffen,
aside from the body lift and starter move, I've had to do most of those mods too - definitely some things I'd rather forget as well - like not grinding lead ins on the flywheel and having to push start it during certification... plus having to take the finished motor/gearbox out twice to sort out oil leaks/clutch adjustment etc...

Sometimes I wonder why I do these sorts of things - I guess it keeps me off the streets - on foot at least - well mostly anyway

There is a lot more I've replaced since the car has been back on the road, but it isn't motor related, so I won't bother listing it.
