Hi guys, i picked up the LS400 today, that i will be useing for my swap

......i got the car of E-bay....the guy that i got it of said he got it about a year ago, but did not have time to do it up. and all this time its been siting at his workshop....all its done in the past year is its been in & out of his workshop each day,

He put it on E-bay as when he got to his workshop one day the car would not start, it would turn over but would not start......i ended up geting it for.....360.00

when i got there today to pick it up had alook over it and could not see anything wrong with the car, the frist thing i had alook at was the plugs....well what can i say, pulled the frist plug and it was covered in fuel

and i then pulled the rest of the plugs and they was all the same.......i then pulled the air hose off the Throttle body and there was lots of fuel....... so i dryed all the plugs and the air intake hose and waited about 20mins before i put the plugs back in,

got in the car and it started frist time

1 or 2 Q,S guys, as im going FI what can i do with out, as there are lots of pipes going into the intake ? do i need all them or can i do away with some of them! here are some pic,s so you can see what im on about >>

last one guys, the pipe that gos in the back off the intake....think it vents back the one of the headers...can i do away with that as well ??

need your input guys good or bad.......i can take it :)
 
I have discon cold start on 3 of my conversions and only dif is 30-40 extra km per tank of fuel ,round town that is, even sounds better at start, doesnt stumble from extra fuel thats not needed, mite be dif story in real cold weather
 
Hi guys im going to be doing away with the Air/con .......is what i would like to know before i do this, i would need a new blet as the "std one" will be to long once i take the aircom pump of the engine, if any of you have done this where did you get a new blet from??

I am not running AC but there are no visible markings on my belt so I can't give you a number. They are a 6PKxxxx belt.

They are a standard belt, you could use some string and get an approximate length and then go into any auto parts store and they usually have a belt measurement tool which will give you the correct part number.

my next Q, on my 1991 LS 1uZ i have lots of air/vac pipes going round the air intake, and 3 going to the top of the T/B........and i have seen on some of the 1UZ that there is only 1 going to the Top of the T/B so could i do away with some of the ones i have, and if i can!? what ones? i will try and post up some pic,s of the intake.

i want to move the oil filter up out the way so i can fit a turbo down there in its place, is there a kit out there that i can buy to do this or will i have to make a custom kit?

Hi guys, i have the engine mounted now! :) i have to say it looks right at home in the IS, as you can see i have done away with the aircon, as thats where my Turbo or S/C will be going there, i have had to keep the drives side manifold of as i have to make a new one out of SS as the OEM one hits the S/rack on the IS as there is not much room down there. next to do is the fueling side of things before the engine can stay in there for good,

I have all the fueling lines & fitting on there way from JEG,s as they are about the 3rd of the price in the US then they are in the UK

i will put some pic,s up as soon as i have download them from my cam...
 
How did you do the engine mounts?

Did you make them yourself? or get them made?

I've heard story's about some UZ-FE engine's fitting straight in on original engine mounts.
 
I used the Mounts out of the LS400, the engine fit straight on. all i had to do was put a 5mm spacer under them, as in the IS when i droped the engine in i only had about 5mm and the engine would be hiting the cross/member so spacer each side, just to be on the safe side.

I believe a kit for the Ford 5.0 works for the 1UZ. It's on here somewhere - search for "oil filter relocation".

I believe this pic shows all the EGR stuff. My JDM engine came without any of that stuff, so there is some futzing around required to remove it all. Search for "EGR delete mod".

I was told that the elbow fitting on the back of the intake was a vacuum connector that was to go to the brake booster. Mine is missing that one also - it's just plugged with a bolt.

Hi cebby, so your engine came with out all them bits, thats good to know as i want to do away with all this, as it looks a right mess, i will just keep the Vac/lines that i need for my setup and delete the rest.

well i did make a start but it did not go as well as i would have liked, i have ECU out of a LS400 1991, i have all 4 plugs. But all i have to connect from my IS200 is 2 plugs, but one of the plugs has all the TRC and ABS on it, but there are no inputs for this on the LS ECU from what i could work out.....as the TRC & ABS are on a 2nd ECU inside the LS...........what do i do guys do i try and get that 2nd ECU or is there away that i can connect the TRC & ABS inputs from my IS to the Engine ECU....
