auto stays in gear with lights on

Hi I have a 92 ls400 and the auto won't change out of 1st gear with the lights on but changes normally without lights. The reverse light in the dash comes on when I turn the lights on. If I take off without lights and then turn them on the box stays in the gear you are in regardless of road speed and will not change even if you stop and start again Any ideas anyone?

does yr speedo stop working aswell when it wont change gears
since its stuck in 1st the auto section on ecu is sort fo working
just wont chnage gears to 2nd and might be due to speed signals
when u turn lights on it might be draining power to the inhibitor wiring or something
but the rev light in dahs comes on when lights on so u will need to check afew
fuses and powers
somehting somewhere is interfering with the speed signals i recon
anyway these cars are a pain to work with as there is wiring everywhere
lets hope its not a prob behind dash
cant really say what else without looking at it

The speedo still works so have no idea

hard to say without looking at it
might be auto ecu or other speed signal
might be inhibitor problem
hard to say what link is between lights and auto
do u have to have headlights on or will i tplay up when u just have dash lights on
like one click on headlight switch for parkers and not turn headlights on

as it might not be headlight prob
might be prob with parkers linked to auto
but would take ages to see where in the diagrams they would be linked

It don't matter if it's parkers or head lights the result's the same

or take it to an expert in toyotas
