Parts 5.7 3ur engine - or parts - torn down

I got a complete 5.7 3ur engine...well almost complete. I broke one of the rods just to see how easy it would break, and I ported and polished one cyl just to see what kind of improvement I could get. Amazingly it didn't help all that much. Would just need to do a valve lap or maybe a quick valve job on that one cyl to make it 100% again.

Engine has no accesories and no fuel rail/injectors. Engine turned a main bearing, but other than that there was no damage.

Looking for $400 for everything.

Would have to be turned and use oversized/undersized bearings. I was going to get a custom set of bearings made with tangs as well as the block modified for them as well to prevent turning of bearings. These things use compression bearings and are tangless.

I just don't have time and I have other things that I want to work on and want to free up some shelf space in the shop.

I for one want to know how easy it was to break that rod. Is the 5.7 pretty weak?

Do you still have this engine?

I would have to drive out, do you have better photo's of this engine?
I would like to see more of the parts before making the drive.



Can you explain what the conditions were when the bearing turned and rod broke?
I understand you were pushing the engine, how did you do that?
