Thats looking awesome! congrats. How large are you secondrys?

Exhuast is: 1 5/8" primaries 900mm long, secondarys are 3" by 800 with a x-over into 5" supertrapps.

We made it ourself at a total cost of Aus$400 excluding the trapps.

Not sure how its going to perform yet as it hasnt been on a dyno yet... but common sense, EAP and some advice from here said it should work and be a decent balance between tq and hp.

We bought the flanges (thanks heaps to Elliotaw who arranged them for us. We salute you!), bought the bends from an exhaust place in sydney and measured the lengths on the car using pool hose cut to length. There are more pics of the exhaust here: http://offroadracing.com.au/sorra/build_Wolf.htm

Can you let us know where you got the bends.

I was quoted $25.00 per 13/4 mandrel bend!

Hey Zuffen,

We get em from Turbo Exhaust at Smithfield - all 90deg bends plus some straights, mostly offcuts. Collector is real cheap version too.

Not sure we'de do it the same way again, its just not as nice a job as you'd get done on site with the right angles... You dont really notice fromt the pics, but it is a bit messy....

Still, purpose of this engine is dont spend money - so it worked from that point of view!

Are those primaries and secondaries not to big? is the engine fairly standard

Naa - not for our original plans! The original intention was to go fairly modified with engine in stages, go high comp, flowed heads etc, including the dual intake thats on the car now. For various reasons beyond our control we're only going to run the 1UZ in the NSW championship, the engine we run in the Australian championship will be <3.5 litres so thats the engine we're now going to spend the money on instead.

That exhaust was built as compromise between the 3 stages the engine was going to go through from fairly stock to mild (top end) and finally high comp/cams.

As it turns out though, the primaries are a good size to not restrict hp, and with the secondaries we are just too restricted on space to do what we wanted with length, and the 3" bends were cheap and fitted our supertrapps, so thats what we used. We're now dropping in a 5speed transaxle so we'll gear it to suit the range we get on the dyno.

But in the end the exhaust just had to compromise between performance, future plans, practicality and budget.

Out of curiosity, what do you think would have been better?

Well ive been told that the best possible size for you primaries on a 1uz is 1.5inch , but thats a standard 1uz which i thought you were using. And twin 3inch exhuast is way to big for a standard 1uz so im told. A single 2.5 or 2.75 is just right for a standard 1uz. Single 3 inch is the go if modified with cams etc

We pick up the gearbox from the courier depot tonight! Which means gearbox goes in on Thursday night so axles can be ordered and it'll get weighed in 2 weeks so we can order springs.

It looks like about 4 weeks till dyno day! woohoo!

Hey all, been a while so I thought Id drop in to say hi and give you guys an update.

The wolf is a runner, log booked and would be ready to race.... if we hadnt stripped it to powerdercoat the chassis....

been a few delays with babies and house extentions, not to mention work, but she's juuuust about done. Its drivable at least! just not bulletproof yet.

best one Ive got so far was taken on the phone so all the bass was sucked out of the exhaust tone.... boooo! which is a shame cause it sounds freakin awesome!
