Ok, I have a reliable FI setup and would like to overhaul my ignition with CDI type. I found David used dual MSD 6a units on his LS400 so I started shopping and found summit racing has a CDI box with 25mj more spark and 40 more volts max output than the MSD and it only runs $125 so using dual I would need $250 and $75 for dual ignition adapter so $325 for all parts needed versus $375 plus $75 =$450 for the MSD route.
Has anyone else ever done this? I know OEM can take a beating but you can never go wrong with too much spark.
So whats going on under our hood that needs to be modified? The pics I saw showed connections around where the OEM coils lie.
-Am I swapping out coils to box? I just want to visualize the power flow...
