STS oil pump alarm

I have the sts turbo kit on my 02 v8 tundra. recently, the oil pump alarm (for the pump that is with the kit) went off. it is apparently not working properly. not much boost was building, smoke was coming out the tailpipe, and then the fuse to the pump would pop in half..causing the alarm to go off. has anyone had this problem? should i check the wiring harness up and down to see if there is a short in the wires or is there something internally wrong with the pump, such as debris clogging it up? if anyone has any input, i would appreciate before i have to shell out 200 bucks (the price rick squires told me because my year parts warranty is up by a month or two)...

This is one of the most common problems with LMT (low mount turbo). Your pump is not getting the oil out and the engine keep dumpping oiling to the turbo. The oil leak via the turbo seal and you are burning engine oil. You should get another pump as a reserve.
