im in the process of installing a 1uz into a holden HX 1 tonner.
am using a haltech ECU and i have a A340e gearbox from a crown.
i need to connect the speed sensor to the ecu.
i believe the speed sensor is the 32PPR type it has a part number of
89544-30020 the wire colours are Blue, Green and Black just need to find what colour is power, earth and signal.

Thanks

The Crown gearbox should have 2 speed sensors in the rear housing of the gearbox. The rear most one is the one I used. It should have three wires coming out of it to a plug.

Green = signal.
Red = 12V
White = GND.

You will have to check what colours they match up with in the loom.

the gearbox i have is missing that speed sensor, it looks like it is set up to drive a cable.

and i dont have a loom to trace back.

thanks anyway

Ok. The sensor that is missing fits on like a cable. You can use the other three wire sensor but you will need to use a multimeter to figure out which wire is which.
Go to this link http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h36.pdf Page 7 shows the inner workings of the rear most sensor. The one you plan to use should be simular.
Set the multimeter to measure resistance. You will need to use trial and error to find the correct wires using the following.

Ground to 12V should be very high resistance.
Ground to signal should be very high resistance or open circuit.
12V to signal should have some resistance.

Ground should be easy to find then it will be just trial and error to work out which is 12V and which is signal.
Cheers
Daniel.

how r u going to control the auto if your running a haltech
maybe the latest can do auto but ive looked at software to prog a sports 1000
and nothing there for autos

anyway the crown speed sensor wires should be

red/blue 12v
i think yellow/red is one too think that one is ground
then the last wire is sig not sure on colour as diags are at work

front 2 pin sensor is torque converter speed input
rear 2 pin sneosr is output shaft speed sensor 32p
and rear screw on speed sensorthat is for crown speedo is 20p

Blue = Ground.Green/red stripe = Signal.Black/orange stripe = 12v.

Sideshow, i have a controller from KDOG to control the gearbox.
and am using a PS1000 for the engine

Bushwaker, the wires dont have any stripes on them.

Thanks again for the help.

ok cool i had kdogs unit on my hilux for many years but removed it before i got rid of the car

just find any jap 3 wire screw on speed sensor
i have afew orignial crown ones but i need to get some drive pins for them as ive run out

get a sensor from a late model cressida
doesnt matter what pulse count is as u set it up in haltech
but im pretty sure it needs to be 3 wire as ive sold afew to freind who does hatlechs

proper crown speed sensor has triangular plug so no middle wire
all other sensor do have centre pin as earth
get the sensor first then worry bout wiring
