Not the latest technology but some very nice pictures inside a NASCAR engine.

Chevrolet based 358cid/5.9 liter naturally aspirated, 810hp @ 8400rpm, 565 lb/ft @ 7300rpm.

That bottom end can run 9500 rpm all day !!!!
Rods are actually quite light .. I guess they have to be ??

This was being discussed over at http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16932 great site with many of the top builders in the US posting.

Pointed out that the cam bearings are roller but there is no cam tunnel.

There are no pictures of the combustion chambers but looking closely at the pistons I believe the reliefs show the shape. Notice the pistons have minimal skirts.
