2jz-ge into '90 surf (need info please !!)

hi i did a bit of a search and all i could find was 1UZ swaps...

i want to find out some info on putting a 2jz-ge from a gs300 (im collecting the car this weekend :mischievous into my '90 hilux surf .... if anyone has done this before or knows can help me id appreciate it :notworthy:

my surf is manual and the gs300 is auto so id mainly like to find out which trany setup is easier and cheapest to do because i only use the surf off road 99% of the time and my other cars take up most of my money lol.

thanks for the pics mate that hilux is far sweeter than mine will ever be.... but i know what you mean about the radiator it will be a tight squeeze but nothi8ng i cant bodge it

I make mounts for them to bolt in. They are a tight fit but go in ok. Cheers

i wired up my friends 1jz into his 92 hilux so id say its the same job

he managed to get everythign in there
thermo fan
radiator
a/c condenser
etc etc

doesnt overheat
a/c works great
i cant remember what rad he used but i think he modded the front support
so radiator sits under the radiator top support

anyway a surf has condenser under front of car so that should nto be a prob

u will need to get rid of hydraulic fan setup if it has one
use a clutch fan type wate rpump but i think most 2j nons are clutch fan
then once u get normal watr pump on then run a themro fan

ive also done 4wd hiluxes with 1jzs and they run massiv eradiator in the rear tray but i guess yr surf doesnt have that luxury

keep yr std manual and trnasfer there
as changing it can cause more headaches than u need
just reuse the 4wd wiring

thanks for the info mate, and yes im keeping mine 4x4 otherwise its no use to me because i only use it for off roading.... and i was toying with the idea of tray backing it but just not yet... but i can live with no A/C so id have a bit more room for a bigger rad up front....

but you recon the standard surf manual box will fit the 2jz ? the tranny is the only bit im really concerned about.
