'05 Vigo/Hilux 1UZ

Hi guys, looks like you have a great forum here. Very informative. I am in the planning stage of a 1UZ engine swop into my Vigo/Hilux (South African equiv). It has a 2KD (2.5 turbo diesel) engine currently. I intend fitting the 1UZ (non vvt) as they are relatively cheap and will be using the original ecu and wiring loom.
Has anybody done such a swap and if so what were some of the problems you had to overcome?
I have recently replaced the radiator with the thicker core unit (just because) but have never had any heating issues. Will this radiator suffice? and if not what would be recommended?
Any info in this regard would be much appreciated!

My advice would be to keep the 2KD, there is a lot of power to be had from these engines. I'm not sure what is available in your country, but you can source chip, exhaust and inter cooler packages from Australia.

The 1uz go into that model nicely. Myself I would be doing a VVti or at least ucf20/21 series motor to get that bit of extra power. Bellhousings are easy to get and stock cooling system is well up to the job. Cheers
