I was cleaning out the shed and I saw it there - still dummied up to the V8. I've been moving it around on the engine stand for ages, then I put the engine on the floor in the corner, and I thought really it's time I let someone else do something with it - 3 year limit.
The pullies I might...
Hi everyone,
this blower has been in my shed for three years now and I'm not going to ever get around to fitting it. So it is for sale.
I'm selling the pulleys separately.
Blower, air/water intercoolers, bypass valve, water pump for the intercoolers - all genuine Jaguar stuff in excellent...
I can't say that I have seen this in Australia on any car at any dyno or from on-road experience of owners.
All of the 1UZ-FE's I have heard of with headers and dual 2.5 inch pipes have matched or beaten other cars for low end response. I agree that 2.25 inch dual will be sufficient. But I...
Hi Guys,
I pretty much run a quality 10W mineral oil in my 1UZ-FE V8 nowadays with excessive changes at 5000km or 3000 miles. For special events I'll run a 0W full synthetic motor oil (events like a dyno day or a weekend of 220 kph circuit sprinting)
Without a doubt quality oil will "last"...
I'll have to work the rpm out - I have a twin turbo TORSEN diff with 275 17 inch tyres run in third gear (1:1?) on the auto. Roller speed is recorded, not rpm.
The 180 was recorded minutes after other V8's had pulled 130's - so it is a good comparision.
I guess I wanted to see what the...
Hi everyone,
we had a dyno day in Adelaide last weekend for Toyota Soarers. Plenty of V8's attended.
Stock V8's started at 127 rwkW (170 rwhp) and ended around 139 rwkW (186 rwhp) with just a rear muffler change.
V8 with a BFI and a split system (no balance pipe) and a pair of straight...
A socket and a bar that hits the ground or an empty battery tray with a rag wrapped around it will hold the bolt head while you hit the starter - it will come off straight away.
A 12 volt impact wheel nut gun will do the trick too - and tighten it afterwards. They are cheap nowadays.
Hang on guys. All the issues you have raised have been addressed in the FAQ of the site:
http://www.ststurbo.com/f_a_q
And there are lots of magazine articles to read as well with reviews etc. Cold turbos are different to hot turbos. Don't go applying hot turbo rule of thumbs to rear mount...
It's not my dyno graph! It's some other guys.
I just picked it out as an example of before and after. I've got a few before and after dynos with the headers.
In almost every case more torque appears to be the case. Sometimes it is the same down low with only gains up top. I was interested...
I couldn't say I lost any torque down low with the long tube headers. I can't think of anyone saying they did lose torque anywhere in the rev range with Tex's headers. In fact I reckon people reckon the headers improve torque down low and give the car more punch of the line. I can't think of...
Back then I had a race only exhaust - no cats and a custom 10 inch long x-pipe and an extra pair of resonators installed.
Now the cats and regular x-pipe are back on - with the same rear resonators and mufflers. I unbolt the middle section now and again.
No power difference - my twin cats are...
I love V8's - I love this 1UZ-FE. At the track I always get asked what sort of motor, comments from strangers "mate that sounds great" etc etc.
One old guy at Phillip Island Circuit reckons my car is the 2nd best he's heard after a Ford GT40 with Gurney Weslake? heads etc .
So to share the joy...
Your offset is miles too low - it makes the wheel stick out too far.
Stock offset is +45mm - your wheels stick out 20 odd mm further than the factory intended - that's why they rub.
Can't be fixed.
Get rid of the rims and start again. +38mm will be a closer fit for your car...
Top stuff Joel!
Such a thorough well thought out job. Congratulations - something to be proud of mate. I hope to see it one day.
Hell when I get mine jag supercharged blower I'll pop up and proudly tow it to the water ! :)
Next Summer here we come!!
cheers
Peter
