ever since the day i got my sc400 iv been wanting to put a lsd in her but as funds are short at the moment i was thinking of welding the centre. im use to all the dramas that come along with lockers as every car i get ends up with the diff locked. just chasing some opinions as i havent heard of many people doing it to their soarers and so on.

I have a bit of a system that I use for modding the center. I spend a bit of time planning out what to do & remove the pin that the spider gears run on (after a bit of tacking). I can then rotate the spline assembly so that I can weld in plates on both sides to get good welds on the full circumference of both splined gears, also avoiding any welding on the carrier. I then re-install the pin (now simply a drive pin) & re-install the diff as per normal.
They are all pretty much the same. I just like to put a bit more thought into it than some people. Haven't had one fail yet... fingers crossed.

sounds good thanks for the tip. i always use at least 5 mill plate now one time i used 3 mill and it tore straight in halfe and that was only in my escort. i think ill go ahead and weld it might even buy one to weld first and then i know i got my original one spare if i brake it or get a yellow sticker and so on.
