Starter Issues

Had a search seems to be loads about starters that fail and just click. Mine was working fine, now just spins and won't engage???

Any ideas to try before I have to pull the starter out?

It seems like a bad starter. The starter supposes to stick out its gear and spin. That gear will engage to the flywheel and turn the engine. If it spins and doesn't turn the engine, then it's probably bad. However, before taking it out, try to put in a full power battery. A weak battery may be a problem.

Problem solved, took the starter out and the shaft has snapped! New one on order, should be back together later in the week. Can then see if it will fire up
