Guys, I know we need to install colder plugs in an engine with Forced Induction. I do have some questions for you ignition experts:
  • What is the recommended best type of plug? I understand standard copper electrode plugs are far better and safer for turbo applications. I also understand that both platinum and Iridium tipped plugs have much more of a chance of causing pre-ignition than copper plugs.
  • How many heat ranges are optimal to drop? I understand 2 heat ranges is best, yet I could only find 1 heat range lower, so that is what I elected to go with.
  • Plug gaps. If I remember correctly, the stock recommended gap is .044. I also understand that in turbo applications, for example, my 1UZ TT project, the gap should be around .025.
  • Any name brand better than the other? How about where to get the plugs?
Thanks in advance to the experts that are about to share their experiences...

Ryan
