Richards Ignition box

Hi All,
I'm turbocharging a 1uz when I fired it up I discovered my afm had stuffed up and the motor now runs really rich. So I've decided to ditch the crown computer and run an aftermarket computer.

I really like the tunablity of the Delco/Kalmaker but the only good solution to the ignition problem that I've been able to find is Richards ignition box.

Has anyone found a different workable solution?

Use Richards box.
It works perfectly, and has been proven.

Delco/Kalmaker is not cheap though.

Delco harness and bits (ignitors etc) to work with d!ck's box - about $400
D!cks box - $600
Kalmaker ecu - $1100 (I think)
Tuning - $600-$1000
Total $2500-$3000

I'm not trying to put you off, but Autronic can be had for much less than that.

Ok a couple of things to clear up
Don't you still need to tune an autronic system?
Will the autronic accept the toyota igntion signals?

I already have the kalmaker software so another ECU will only cost about $500

Yes, you still need to tune it, but Delco/Kalmaker tuners tend to charge a lot more as there is a lot less of them (tuners that is).

I think the autronic can handle all factory gear (an email off to them would answer this)

Are you sure the ecu will only cost $500?
Most places the software is free, as its is useless without the ecu.
I'd double check that one.

Dicks box would be the go if you wnated to use delco. But the total expendature will be about the same as any other aftermarket ECU. Unless you are confident that you can do the tuning yourself.

How well the system runs is a combination of hardware (most hardware is fine) and tuning (this is the big fish). The costs are all about the same unless you have a head start in one department.

The autronic will use the standard sensors. But the crank trigger disk needs to have some teeth cut off.

you also need a reluctor interface with the autronic when using the toyota dizzy sensors

autronic likes seonsors like on a nissan with square wave output

toyotas are analog output so ui need to convert them

or wait for new autronic

but these days i cant see why u cant just fit a microtech
they are ok

just tell the tuner to spend bit more time in tunin it

especially in cruise mode

if you have the money then go for autronic
