I'm a little unsure of where this should be posted as I cant see an obvious thread.
I am fitting a Lexus V8 to a purpose built 4x4 tuff truck for competition & was wondering what some cheap easy mods for getting more HP are?
I have looked at superchargers but they're a little out of my price range at the moment.
Does anyone here have some tips?

Thanks all.

Give it as much cool clean air as possible and then get the burnt gases out.

Not much else you can do other than ensure it has good distributors, rotors, leads and plugs.

Going beyond this gets into cams or forced induction.

Not much you can mod N/A on a swap, you probably already will be fitting a custom exhaust and intake...So your left with an ECU tune (piggy-back) which you already may have planned...Just incase here are some ideas for you...

Exhaust mods such as -

Headers
Straight pipes
Straight thru mufflers
High flow cats if you have cats

Intake mods -

BFI intake design if applicable....

You can also fine tune with a piggy back ECU to get some additional ponies..

If you want real power your going to have to turbo charge, super charge or nitrous oxide charge your 1uz-fe motor...

Maybe some high lift cam replacement and head work could be in order...If you really want to get nasty throw on a eight throttle body intake and go MAP... That may not apply to an off road application though...

If you really want to boost for less, try and get an M90 Eaton charger off Ebay and or a single small Garrett turbo system and customise the fit yourself..Either setup should suit your needs and cost you no more then $2000 if you shop and do it right yourself... At 6psi of boost you can still stick with the stock fuel system and ECU (maybe just upgrade the fuel pump) and that should not break the bank...

Welcome and good luck...

details please... being a kiwi, id assume youve probably got a link ecu? is it a trials truck or a racing truck? if the former, you dont want cams or 8 throttles, just do a good free flow exhaust and get the computer tuned by a pro. you could chuck some high comp pistons in, but id wait and just save for a blower, as its torque you'd be after to get out of bogs and up hills etc. or maybe a couple of medium sized turbos would do the trick.

again, post photos, details, etc, is it road legal or pure competition?
and where in nz are you? theres several 1uz specialists dotted around the country.
