Big day today.

The engineer inspected my conversion and passed it without any worries.

He was more interested in having a ride in the car and seeing how I did the conversion from the view point of how he will do his.

The Engineer also wants to do a 1UZ into Range Rover swap and wanted to see how I did it and to borrow my templates.

No Emissions problems.

It pays to shop around I had one engineer wanted me to do the very tough IM240 Dyno test (which means a day off work) whilst others wanted the original ECU, Airbox and cats.

Cost $550.00

Now I only need anew Blue slip and I'm all legal.

Fantastic Zuffen,
You must be very pleased.
So do you have any mods that deviate from standard factory specs, ecu etc.
Would he have passed it with the 112.
I am interested as I will be undertaking eng cert in around 6 months, have twin turbos, aftermarket ecu, bigger inj etc, will be running cats quiet exhaust in a 1978 model vehicle, but am prepared to return everything to standard to get approval, then swap back later and try again.
I am just up on the central coast so any info will be relevant, might get your guys name when the time comes.
Cheers
Trev

yeah Rod it's good to see someone getting things done the right way.

congrats on getting it passed mate.

now, go find a nice track in the middle of nowhere and explore your new found power!

$550, ouch. In QLd its $70, and a very basic inspection. The enginner didn't even drive my truck. I am still blown away with how easy it is to get a engine swap approved in QLD.

But congrats anyway Zuffen for passing it all !!!

$550 is about right.

mine is $400 and counting and i don't even have a certificate yet.

Mycarpossessedme,

I think you may sneak it thru.

I told him I was planning on the MP112 and aftermarket management and he wasn't concerned.

Across the rod from the engineer is GT Cars (I think that's their name) and they build Cobra replicas, with of course 1UZ power! They register single and twin turbo cars with EMS management.

They were saying as long as the engine is pre 1997 they can get any 1UZ through. They were saying they can tickle the EMS to pass easy and even post 1997 it only needs EGR which they remove after,

I'd suggest talking to the engineer as things get closer so you can figure which way to go. Worst you do is get it going and show up for an inspection. If it fails fix it and go back. As they say "if you don't ask, you don't git"

Pro240C,

The thing is still a bit of a slug! I plan to blue slip it then start sorting through it to see if I can get it running any better. I haven't even pulled a spark plug yet!

Twisty,

No idea why it's so cheap in QLD.

Maybe so people move up there?

Looking around Sydney this is about the rate.

Anyone needing the engineers contact details PM me and I'll respond.

i have heard of engineers these days charging per item so you have

60 bucks brakes
60 bucks suspension
60 bucks wheels
etc etc plus the basic fee

my engineer didnt wnat brake upgrade or emissions test

cost me 350 plus gst whioch then was 385

and he came out to the car

i even dmooth talked him

Brett,

I'll PM you.

I don't think it wise to name anyone online who is helpful in an area where they are supposed to make it hard.
