Hey guys i screwed up the order of the caps that are on top of the springs for exhaust/air timing valves on a 1uz-fe 1997 v8 engine, does anyone know how to find out what order the caps are supposed to be inn? Or if there is some kind of symbol on them or somthing? Help is much appreciated

Are you referring to the cam followers or the shims?
think its called cam followers, sorry in advance for my english its not my native language, here’s a picture for reference

The cam followers are best put back in the same location/hole as there may be matching wear patterns on the cam and follower.

Don't worry if they don't go back in the same location/hole.

What you will need to do is collect the shims and set the valve gaps on each valve.

You will most likely find you need to source additional shims.

I've done it once and I started by measuring each shim and writing on it how thick it was. From there I started measuring the gap and fitting what shims I could and purchased new shims I needed.
