    LPG

The book "Propane fuel conversions" by Jay Storer has some interesting info. The author has two '32 Ford street rods , one running a turboed 300cu six, and the other a turboed 302 V8 ( both Fords). Reading the book I was under the impression that LPG was more widely available in the US, but...

    LPG

The conversion is still definitely worth it. My Landcruiser is the same model as shown above, except it has the six, not the V8. The existing fuel tanks (main and reserve) are retained, with two gas (LPG) saddle tanks fitted under the passenger floor area. This has increased the vehicles total...

    Power Steering Pressure?

I am planning on using the stock power steering pump with a VK-VL Commodore power steering rack on my streetrod. I have in mind using an adjustable power steering valve made by Heidts Hot Rod Shop. www.heidts.com This works on the same principle as a brake proportioning valve, allowing you to...

    Rebuilding a starter motor

New starter motors are expensive in this part of the world. I think you will find it is pretty much a standard Denso unit similar to most toyotas. Any decent auto electrical workshop should be able to rebuild it for a reasonable price.

    M90 Pressure relief valve

Kev, A pop-off valve is required when using a toothed (Gilmer type) drive belt as used on dragsters. This is because the belt cannot slip allowing pressure relief through the blower. An M90 with a ribbed drive belt can slip if a backfire occurs, reducing the chance of damage.

Can the car run with no battery?

Without a battery the alternator regulator has no reference voltage to determine the correct amount of excitation required. The output voltage could be any value, and more likely extremely high, causing serious damage to both the alternator itself and the rest of the electrical system.

    LPG and Turbo

Talk to Gasresearch in Melbourne. On my planned supercharged setup they have suggested using dual gas carbys, one large and one small, connected via a progressive linkage. The small carby operates at low speed (flow) and then the large carby cuts in as the speed (flow) increases, until they...

An end to one of the last great speed zones in the world.

Here are a couple of interesting web sites. www.no-speedlimit.com.au and www.KeepNTLimitFree.org To some, this may appear to be a lost cause, but I don't think so. Last year the NT Govt. tried to sell off the Territory Insurance Office but were forced to bow to public pressure.(The selling of...

An end to one of the last great speed zones in the world.

An update on my previous post. The new speed limits and fines came into effect on 1 Jan 07. Already, (sadly) there have been 6 deaths on Territory roads compared to 1 this time last year. The Opposition Party has vowed to repeal the speed limit law if it gains Govt. at the next election. A...
