Yes, but your theory is correct on performance gains but only if I re-calibrate the fuel mapping.. I think the engine behavior is already starting to show signs of running lean... i have an air/fuel gauge and there is already a bung which I put in ages ago. I also have a Jaycar digital fuel...

Which part dont you understand ?.... look at the pictures.... 2 different bolt patterns for 2 different starters... One also the nose sticks out further than the other.... both sold for 89-00 LS400 on ebay ....

I just found out there are 2 different types of starters with 2 different mounting bolt patterns on the same 1UZ engine and I guess the only way I'll know is to wait until Ive got it off to see which one it is ?

All the TB kits on ebay in Australia, most have a Gates or Dayco belt but everything else is unbranded. Where as ebay USA, the OEM kits look very comprehensive ($100AUD freight) and also include a serp belt which I thought was nice. An OEM kit including freight is $580AUD as our dollar is only...

I notice too that some starters are quoted at 1.2kw and others right up to 2kw. Does this mean anything or is it just a bit of BS ?

I have spoken in my other post about my clicking solenoid. I note on ebay USA (Im Australian) you can get 'brand new' aftermarket starter motors for under $100 and under $100 freight. Has anybody used these as a replacement ? Are they close to OEM quality ? Or do you go reman ?

I also note that there are a few TB complete kits with water pump, pulleys and what not. Some seemed to have a brand some seemed to be unbranded.. Does it matter ?... Does the TB need to be matched to the pulleys ?..... Should I use OEM ?

We put it on the hoist and when you looked up you could see where the main engine frame/cradle had been moving slightly. 2 big bolts weren't loose but they weren't tight. Tightened them with a knuckle bar, both sides... No more cracking sounds... All fixed...
