    1uz non vvti piston rings

One of the changes Toyota made in the evolution of the 1UZ was going to thinner rings, to reduce the internal friction of the engine, although they didn't specify the dimensions of the new, thinner rings or at least they didn't specify the dimensions in the NCF (New Car Features) books which...

    1uz non vvti piston rings

Here in the US, Total Seal have always been a good supplier of piston rings, and they have a large selection. Sealed Power are another reliable manufacturer, and I've used their rings with good success. Are your pistons OEM or aftermarket? Frankly, I don't know what size the OEM rings are -...

Are all 2uzfe engine blocks the same?

Not many of us have dabbled with the 2UZ, as we're more of a 1UZ fan club here, but I think you should be OK as both blocks you mentioned are later than 1997, which is when Toyota introduced VVTi, and added some oil passages into the blocks to accommodate them.

    Porting and boosting advice please

I'm not nearly as far along on the project to be thinking about some of the items you mentioned. I had built two engines, dynoed them, and then the project went on the back burner. One engine was built as a "mule" to learn from on the engine dyno, and we certainly learned a lot from it, and the...

    1uzfe 99 GS400 boost

Have a look at this thread: http://www.lextreme.com/forums/index.php?threads/aem-fic.17198/ The owner has a 2000 GS400, which he supercharged. You may wish to start a discussion with him on here.

I had loads of pics here on Lextreme before Photobucket decided to go from being a free hosting site to what they are now. I'll try to post up some pics of the engine here in your thread if you don't mind. Good to hear the MS 3.0 is working well for you. Did you retain the stock idle air...

    Porting and boosting advice please

Condolences on your losses, but I'm glad to know we in the US don't have exclusive rights on shady tuners and their shoddy work. 1UZ's are definitely not cheap builds, as both Zuffen & I can testify (as can nearly everyone else on this board), but when you're done, you have something with a...

    Porting and boosting advice please

I understand a number of folks have been trying Tremec's in lieu of the V160 due to the Tremec's better availability and much more reasonable cost. On paper they look like a viable alternative, but in the real world I don't know how well they're working out. Personally, I've never liked the V160...

I agree; nice looking car there George! Looks like it has a helluva big boot. Why so much cargo space?

    Porting and boosting advice please

Yea, sorry for the late reply. I had meant to reply to you straight away but just couldn't find the time. I think the 1UZ is the perfect engine for the Supra because it's such a heavy pig, and needs a lot more low end torque to get it launched than the 2JZ can deliver, which is why the car had...

    Porting and boosting advice please

Hello 'Cat & welcome. Congratulations on fitting the 1UZ to your Supra - that's been one of my ongoing projects for longer than I care to think about. To answer your questions: 1. Try Bullet Cars in Australia - they sell a complete supercharger kit for the 1UZ, but be sure you're sitting down...

    Piggyback ECU AEM FIC

Have been looking for a MAF simulator/fooler, but have come up dry. Best idea has been to "map" the MAF under varying conditions of MAP, TPS, RPM, etc. and then build a dedicated black box that will output the same signal as the MAF under all those previously datalogged conditions. The FIC is...

    Piggyback ECU AEM FIC

Nick, thanks for the info & endorsement on the FIC. I've had a brief look at using a pair of them on my Italian hotrod and setting them up similarly to yours, along with 12 hole injectors, etc. I'll also be replacing my stock intake system of 2 x MAF's & TB's with 12 x ITB's and no MAF's, and...

Seller Feedback Warning: Do not buy parts from EBay seller Cool-Angel (Tom), from Hong Kong

Nick, condolences for the issues you've encountered, but I'd say you did well just getting a refund from the seller. We all know that buying parts from the internet is a dodgy proposition, and I think most of us who have been tinkering with cars for awhile have been burnt a time or two. Anyway...

    Advice needed

Here's a link to Bullet Cars in Australia, who are probably the only ones who still have the intake manifolds for the early 1UZ: http://www.bulletcars.com/superchargers/toyota/1-uzfe-v8-engine-supercharger-system.html. Zuffen or Gloverman may know of someone else who still builds these. You...

    Advice needed

The "old" style heads don't flow as well as the VVTi heads, however if you're force feeding them, it's not such a big deal. Are you looking at centrifugals, Roots, or screw compressors? Roots & screws need a dedicated manifold, or a DIY one, while centrifugals only need a fish bracket and some...
