I know this is an old post but are there any pictures of engine / aircraft ?

Will be replacing timing belt soon.. On ebay there are a few that don't state what brand they are. Is it important ?... should I use OEM Toyota ?..Gates ?.. does it matter ?

Yes George_R I will check dodgy battery cable, others have told me that also and I have a motorbike so its not super urgent that its back on the road..

Solenoid clicking At 300,000km I will be putting in the 2nd cam belt so I'll do the starter (if it lasts another 20,000) at the same time. So yeah $300 for a reco would certainly give me piece of mind going by how difficult it is to get to it. I'll do new fan belt and radiator hoses ($100) also...

My '98 LS has 280,000km and the starter solenoid is doing the click-click... Is a solenoid kit suffice or should I replace the whole starter with new or reco ?

. The wood is fastened by 4 countersink coach bolts and the metal jacket fastened by 8 countersink self tappers into the wood. The metal jacket is a very neat fit so the battery just sits in there... It might come out in a roll over...

After 2 Odyssey batteries died after 14 months each and not getting warranty on either, I worked out that it was the heat of the engine bay that killed them. Since I'll never give Odyssey another penny I purchased a Fullriver and installed it in the boot running heavy 2 gauge cable... hopefully...

When I drive in and out of my driveway which has a few deep bumps, slow speed turns where there is a dip in the road or speed bumps there is a 'crack' sound in the front end somewhere.... Any suggestions where to look ?

I guess by removing the exhausts you have increased the velocity thus torque... When I get time, I'll remove the 2 center mufflers and see if it makes a nice sound.. I dont want noise or drone... looking for a nice purr...

Pc680 Well, It says on their brocher that the PC680 is suitable for a 5 litre V8 racing car (600hp). So assumed it should be ok for a 4 litre @300hp. Nowhere does it say not suitable for passenger cars. Interestingly, the 680 turns the starter at probably twice the speed of the stock battery...

GRRRRRR.. The most expensive battery on the market !! And the worse thing is I made a fibreglass battery box for it that's laminated to the stock battery carrier. Now I have to get another carrier and go thru the whole process again with something else !!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Its not the lack of reserve so much, it would just go flat overnight...GRRRRR And as for they B.S. warranty, they told me that whatever was wrong with it was my fault. They said if I left the headlights on ONCE and flattened it NO WARRANTY... If it ever got charged at more than 15 volts NO...

Battery issue Mr cribbj... It turned out to be the battery. It is an Odyssey PC680 only 2 years old... and its stuffed... goes flat in about 5 minutes. And to make matters worse, they wont honor the warranty. Not happy... $250 paper weight.

1999 LS400 with factory HID low beam. They start flickering, If I turn them off and on, they are good, then a few kms later they do it again... they will keep flickering until I turn them off & on..... then a few kms... flickering again. Hi beam is fine. Any suggestions ?

Would there be any advantage gutting the cat converters ?

Would the (torsen) diff center from a UCF10 fit a UCF20 ? I have a '99 LS400 with open diff and I can get a LSD from an early Soarer. The cases are different but I think the centers / crown wheels are interchangeable... Can anyone confirm this ? Thanks :)
