I looked into using the CT-26s for my E36 build, but ultimately decided it would be better to leave it NA avoiding the complications. Turns out there isn't really enough space either unless the radiator setup is modified further forward.

That's the best 1UZ ute build I've seen! The mid mount engine aspect is very intriguing, certainly a LOT more interesting than the conventional 1UZ front engine utes out there.

I am looking to install an a650e gearbox and have it operate with a PCS TCM-2000 controller next month. However I was curious to what level the gearbox would operate mechanically with no electrical aid? Would the gears be manually selectable from p, r, n, 1, 2 through to 3rd? Just wondered...

I'm looking at putting about 320hp/400nm (at the engine) through my stock vvti v8 A650e gearbox with a modified valve body from IPT USA Would I be at risk of breaking the 2-3rd sprag? Or is this more so the guys with the force inducted setups?

Sad these newer motors have issues that are almost unheard of on the earlier 1UZ-FEs... I suppose one could come to the conclusion the earlier motors were built to a better standard in a lest stressed form...

Yes, its a matter of having decent mufflers, your going to have to loose some volume to reduce the clatter, and even wont totally avoid it. Not the best sound, but I've gotten used to it on some of my 1UZ cars with exhausts.

Haha. Well yeah the rear main seal is the big one thats common and hard to replace. Any of the seals which see movement can go, or high pressure points. Amazingly my 1uz with its 75,000ks still hasn't leaked from the rear main seal. Although Ill replace it when the next gearbox goes on.

Although an E36, I've been using a modified stock E36 325i type. Seems to be holding up, a guy I know had a 1JZGTE E30, running the stock 2.5 E30 driveshaft, held up fine for a long time. Only rear stock axles suffered, but he was putting out a good 400hp so a bit different to a 1UZ. My plan...

I'm rebuilding one of these boxes for my 340i. The aim is to strengthening the weak internal parts, replace the valve body, upgrade the TC and run a TCM-2000 full computer to control it. Shall be awesome I suspect.

So I finally got the project speeding along the last few months, now the cars on the road and performing great. Trouble is I want more power! At the moment I am just fine tuning all the little things and getting the exterior up to spec. (Bumpers Painted!) Off to the paint shop...

Did some research, turns out it was the TPS.... adjusted it correctly. All fixed!
