Standalone ECU Best Standalone for Lextreme's New Project

The TH400 uses a vacuum modulator, a centrifugal governor and a kickdown switch to determine what gear to be in. The vacuum modulator is the primary upshift contol when at part throttle. The centrifugal governor is the primary upshift control at full throttle - i.e. no vacuum. The TH350 is the...

Standalone ECU Best Standalone for Lextreme's New Project

Also, the AEM will be able to control the stock auto tranny. Or you can swap in a 4L60E or 4L80E if you desire. Not many ECU's can also control the trans.

Standalone ECU Best Standalone for Lextreme's New Project

I'm going to say AEM but many of you probably would have guessed I'd say that seeing as I have one on my SC already and I'm a former AEM employee. Once I have the remaining setup worked out, a mod'd 30-1100 EMS will be plug and play in the stock harness with the only additional components...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

OK, so you're not too close. I should have everything setup and tested by then. Give me a couple weeks here to get it going.

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

No progress to report yet - been spending most of my time working on my RB25 powered 240SX - redoing the entire wiring harness on the car so it's not a 3 hour job. Hopefully I will have it going in the next couple days or so. Once the 240 is going, I'll have another car to drive and then can...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

I finally have a dual UEGO controller for my SC so now I can start tuning the engine. I should have the UEGO's and my MAP sensor (AEM 3.5bar) plumbed and wired in this week so I should have a drivable map sometime this week. Probably will go to the dyno soon afterwards for some numbers and fine...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Depending on which coils you choose, COP's with built in igniters may be cheaper if you take into account the cost of the igniter. Plus, it makes a more reliable system because there is less wiring connections and modules that could go bad in the system. If an external igniter is not mounted...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

That's true about the warrenty so I could see why you'd want to put an igniter in instead of making the mod to the EMS. 2 N/A 2JZ single channel igniters would probably work as the 30-1100/30-1101 is already setup to trigger them correctly. As far as COP's go, you do not need to add an...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Wiring in an igniter would be easy but the mod to the EMS is even easier. Also, the mod is easily reversible and you don't need to add another piece of hardware that could possibly fail or be wired in incorrectly. Now that I've done it once, the mod would only take about 4 minutes to do all...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

I was in the midst of emailing you when you replied. Yes, the EMS can run 8 injector sequentially but I'm trying to avoid any mods to the vehicle until I get everything working correctly which means keeping the batch injectors for now; it will be sequential in the future. I'm going to do a...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

It ended being a lot easier than I had thought, at least this far though, as not everything is tested yet. The 30-1100 EMS itself is only slightly modified. (takes about 5-10 minutes but will void your warrenty) The 1UZ has 0-5V falling edge IGT signals and the 2JZ-GTE IGT signals are 0-5V...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Yes, I'm still here. I am no longer an AEM employee in order to take some time to write a book on engine tuning and engine management systems. In addition to that, I now have much more time to work on my own projects, such as getting my 92 SC400 running on an AEM EMS among other things. And...

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

I haven't looked at the newer cars with the 2UZs, as I don't own one, but I'll take a look and see what the differences are and what it would take to get our EMS working on one.

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

I am going to use all the stock parts first, that way, others can benefit without having to change ignition components. Eventually, it will probably have later XUZ coils of some type or CBR coils with a CDI, I'm not sure yet.

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Hi Edwin, The 30-1100 looks like the closest to the 1UZ ECU pinout as there are only about 20 pins different and it's the EMS I'm going to be modifying to run my SC400. Hopefully in the next week or two, I'll have my V8 running on the EMS and then I'm going to post a "how to" for other people...

    Lextremers in Socal Sign In

I'd be down for a good cruise but not for a while as I'm in the midst of doing an RB25DET swap into my S13 so most of my free time is being sucked up by that right now.

I always thought south bay was the Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Lomita, etc... - the south end of Santa Monica bay, and LBC was the LBC. Anyway, the hilly twisty part that I was referring to is Palos Verdes. There's some good hilly twisty roads - Palos Verdes Drive East being one...
