    The V7 1UZ

I'll be looking at exactly that tomorrow, along with pulling all the plugs to check for fouling and retesting the leads for continuity. Oh the fun... :D

    The V7 1UZ

Oh this is getting annoying... so it's back to missing and randomly dropping from 8 to 7, then going back up to 8. Been working on my bathroom today, so haven't had time to spend on the ute, but will hopefully be able to look at it tomorrow.

    The V7 1UZ

The clicking/tapping is random. It sometimes did it while running on 7 sometimes not. Wasn't doing it a few minutes ago though... So put a clean plug in, the old one was black and covered in soot and gunk, so quite possibly fouled. Seems to run on 8 now, but need to take it for a run to make...

    The V7 1UZ

Curiouser and curiouser... So thought I'd dig the supposed dead lead out of the trash and test that, just to confirm I was incorrect (both good leads tested and are indeed good)... dead lead is dead. Yet it's still running on 7. Only thing I can think of is as it was running home on 7 it...

    Noob Introduction

Bloody hell this is getting confusing, dug out the "dead" lead from the trash and it's definitely dead. So at least that is correct, may be more than one then. But anyways, started a thread in diagnostics to cover...

    The V7 1UZ

Should really start a diagnostic thread, as it's not the plug lead like I thought. Symptoms: Misfire, dropping down a cylinder then clearing, finally dropping to 7 cylinders permanently after messing about with the leads (hence why I suspected that). Multimeter seemed to confirm, but...

Arse... not the lead, just tested 2 good ones on the cylinder I thought was dropping and it turns out my multimeter was running out of juice, so the original lead was fine as well. Any other ideas before I go hunting again?

NZ$130 landed, the postage is as much as the leads though...

Cheers Smokey :-) yeah was pointing to the ignition lead but always nice to have it confirmed by the experts before pulling everything apart. Only problem is the cost of replacing them, a full set from Toyota is ridiculous. Got some coming from the States for a much more reasonable price, as...

Newbie looking into 1UZ into a TE27 Corolla

The 1UZ isn't the most powerful engine but in a TE27 the torque would still move it along pretty quickly and, more me at least, the noise it makes is at least as much a part of the fun factor as the acceleration. I've owned and built much faster cars than my Hilux, but the 1UZ makes it the...

So it was an ignition lead. Of course the last one I checked... at least it was easily solved :)

Cheers for the reply, yeah that's what I'll be checking first, was messing about with the leads before I drove home this evening and it made things worse, which points in that direction. That'll be the weekend's project. I do like the truck though, lots of it has been done well, W58 gearbox...

    Noob Introduction

Hi, new to the forum, joining as I've recently bought a '91 2WD Hilux with a 1UZ conversion, done professionally for the previous owner (mostly a very good conversion, but needed a couple of things tidying up in the wiring). Currently also has an intermittent misfire (yet again I stop lurking...
