    1UZFE runs great without AFM

I wouldn't mind looking into those, something that would run on the beach could be cool, possibly a few dollars by the sounds of it. Do you know of any good dyno tuners in Brisbane that you can recommend ? Just want a good reliable tune on my soarer single turbo, it's runs well with stock...

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Yep learn from experience. My stumbling block always seems to be tuning, hardware is easy to fit, finding someone to give a rats ass and tune the thing properly is another. RC cars sound fun actually, are they the little gas powered ones ?

    1UZ doesn't start (igniter?/timing?)

Your firing order is correct. Check dizy rotors to make sure they have been installed correctly, no broken rotor buttons etc. Obviously triple check leads to plug arrangement, easy to muck that up with firing order. Timing marks per cam belt, you are correct as above. Don't forget crankshaft...

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Yes you are getting old Jim, hahah. When you work with cars all day the last thing you want is to do more work on your own car, blah blah, I understand. I have had a quiet few years off in the car scene, and now decided to tinker a bit more. I don't spend a lot, do pretty much everything...

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Gloverman, I would be really interested to see if there was another Toyota part that could be used. Hopefully an open element sensor, keen to do this on a1jzgte also. I recently relocated an IAT on a l98 chev, makes the car a lot more stable when it comes to power / performance, old sensor used...

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Stevieg, ECT sensor was replaced, genuine Toyota one from memory. Green and grey one. Getting the thing running cooler was the key to helping performance, factory setups run too hot for performance, but better for emissions, not much else I would believe. Sideshow, I think those temps are...

Last link was for IAT, this one is ECT sensor.

Looks like it, makes it too easy great.

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Thanks heaps Zuffen, Makes a lot of sense when you think of it. The 1jzgte uses a IAT that looks looks almost the same as the coolant temp sensor, so I suppose it runs the same setup, curves, resistance etc. Will definitely give that a try. Did you manage to log some data with the standard...

    1UZFE runs great without AFM

Just looking around the net for IAT relocation on 1U's and came across my old thread. Anyway, solved this, basically put the biggest radiator in I could find, fit. Was a custom 350 chev, all alloy. Has transformed the car, The car was just simply getting to hot before, from my guess over 100...

    Engine surge when warm

Ok, thought it was the later model 4 o2 sensor, but yes heat sensors can be ditched.

    Engine surge when warm

I'm sure the water temp might be the issue, the radiator is from a 76 model mercedes :D My v8 soarer flies hot or cold, so going to some testing on that and see what the temp does first, then I have a baseline, I believe operating temp should be under a 100 C. Ive read timing starts getting...

    Engine surge when warm

Yeah the left bank coil is prone to that, I'm losing a heap of torque/power when hot ? I'm assuming water temp is too high, flies when cold and then just dies around town when its warmed up.

    1UZFE idle too high.

Just to close this topic, I was having some faulty TPS symptoms, and was trying to get a new one. Now, previously I had set the TPS by the factory specs, .4mm, (continuity) and then .65mm (no continuity). But had varying degrees of success, with odd idle patterns, lazy gear shifting, and...

    TPS part numbers

Thanks Gloverman, Ive tended to use that general rule myself, some confirmation is all I needed. Cheers, Brett.

    TPS part numbers

So does anyone know why there is different part numbers for what seems to be identical parts ?

    TPS part numbers

Hello people, I'm chasing a new throttle position sensor (TPS) for a 1994 Celsior. Its currently running what I think is an earlier model Soarer throttle body and TPS, prior to conversion it was a trac control model. The current TPS is faulty, and hence chasing a new one. My question...

    1UZFE idle too high.

Jim, Will prob be around south Brisbane area in a couple of weeks, so hopefully will drop by then. Out of interest the caps were only done about 6 months or so ago, was great after they were first done. Brett

    1UZFE idle too high.

Apologies for the late reply, Jim, Ive been driving it around now for a month or so with the ISCV disconnected, now its fine when warm, just stalls when cold, Idle is pretty steady though, around 500-600. Now I guess that rules out any vacumm leaks etc, Ive tried three different ISCV...

    1UZFE idle too high.

Thanks sideshow, I'm going to have another look at it tomorrow, the car is heading up sunny coast on Friday so hopefully have it sorted somewhat by then. Just a thought when I disconnect the ISCV should the idle not change ? Its now quite rare for the idle to ever get to 700rpm, so...
