Twin Turbo 1UZ 1970 Ford Capri street/strip car

i wish we didn't have to drive it there, saves us having to change the tyres etc :p we are making a move to a new class in APSA, X275 it means will ned to run radials, so all we would have to do at the track is put the chute on. we use the same plugs to race as we drive the car around on now and...

    im outa here

all the best with the future mate. sideshow did alot of electrical work for the brothers 1UZ and whenever he needed some info or work done was always happy to help. some knob jockeys ruin it for others, real big loss to the lextreme forum.

Twin Turbo 1UZ 1970 Ford Capri street/strip car

it wouldn't rev over 6200rpm so that saved us a bit. we already have wideband plugged into the ECU it's how we log. we also have it on the dash for Joe to see when he is driving. the EMS 8860 has all the engine kill features if we decide to run it. it doesn't matter how fat u run it, u lose 2...

Twin Turbo 1UZ 1970 Ford Capri street/strip car

that's the theory i had, especially with alcohol so went 1 mechanical fuel pump. my other brother had the same theory, he just didn't do it :p he runs 3 044's on the 2J also but 1 fuse, so if the fuse goes it cuts all 3, but Joe seems to want to run 3 fuses. never good to starve an engine of...

Twin Turbo 1UZ 1970 Ford Capri street/strip car

little update, re-doing the wiring on the fuel system. had a little incident about a month back. we took the car out, started popping and missing, we ran it up on the dyno, noticed very low fuel pressure, 2 of the 3 Bosch 044's were not working. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mnVSyD92vw...

    Rear mount turbo question

it won't be a turbo car then, it will just be like an NA car :p say 450hp @ fly, will make that on what 8-12psi. be full boost at 3000-3500rpm even with rear mount? that cat sleeping on the crank yet?

    Rear mount turbo question

single turbo wasn't it, make sure i read that correctly ;)

    Rear mount turbo question

ash pleeeaassse... surely they don't make turbo's any smaller than that :p depends on the power he wants, i reckon anything smaller will start boosting at idle :p

    Rear mount turbo question

PT5857 then, easy solved :p boost off idle.

    Rear mount turbo question

the 35R's are good but getting a bit old in the tooth. if budget allows, i'd be more inclined to go a Precision PT6262 with the billet comp wheel and new CEA turbine wheel, even the journal bearing version of this turbo spools up faster than the GT35R. we took a GT35R T3 .82 rear housing off...

Fopar, impeller design we where talking about today..

thanks ash, me likey alot. as said PTC has probably the best small cube turbo converter in the world. i think both Joe n myself will go one of these.

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Bucket

Toyota produced some great engines in the 90's. i don't think anyone thought would be 2000hp+ 2JZ's out there ;)

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Bucket

    cam, spring, retainer combo

no probs, once u work out all the flow, comp etc get in contact with Crow or someone and see how u go with getting a custom cam.

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Bucket

:p he liked doing wheelstands so just left with way too much off the line. could be controlled when needed or when Joe was driving. John just loved doing 300ft wheelstands too much ;)

    cam, spring, retainer combo

LSA is the lobe separation angle. it's the angle between the intake and exhaust. what fuel are you going to be running? have you done any work to the intake, ported, port matched, will u be changing to a custom intake etc? will you be porting the heads? alot of that stuff comes into play. the...

    cam, spring, retainer combo

when getting a custom cam tell them exactly what it is being used for. the more info they know the better they can choose a cam. when i was ordering for mine i told them around 20 different pieces of information ranging from rpm, head flow, intake flow, altitude, engine purpose, car weight...

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Bucket

the Capri still runs the factory balancer, the other brother's 2J actually still runs the factory balancer also. really should have an SFI approved one, Capri wasn't supposed to run those numbers and it just ended up staying in. the PG might be ok, not sure what power it's rated to. being...

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Bucket

if the car is setup properly it will be fine. we have alot of guys commend us on the Capri as the car just does its job when it leaves the hole. even at 170mph it feels like your only doing 100km/h. the Capri is lightish 1350kg. we threw in a mate, he had not driven a fast car for 4 years and...
