What to do with your old cam belt

Hi All
Taken the old belt off and looked at the engine and thought it looked manky. so taking off the cam pulleys to clean up the metal plates for the plastic covers, you have to remove the cam pulleys, that's where the old belt comes in. Piece of tube 1 1/2", hammer and a M8 nut and bolt.
Measure the belt on the pulleys and mark with pen, push into the tube and hammer to hold the belt, drill and fix with bolt, cam bolts come out easy without loosing cam settings so cleaning up is easy, refit easy to.

That's a smart idea.

I've heard of UZ cams breaking when the sprocket bolt seizes.

I know when I rebuilt mine some years ago the cam was winding up a fair bit before the bolt broke free. Had me more than a little concerned.

I have no idea how this bdsm toy helps you remove cam pulleys, but it does look very promising

It's a strap wrench, works like a oil filter wrench. You can take the cam bolt out of a cam out of the engine on your bench with no need to hold the cam it's self

stupid me, I forgot that nothing would hold the gear when the belt is off

I've used timing belts to hold exhaust.
