This is very similar motor to the LS9 that comes in the new ZR-1 Corvettes, which is also a 6.2 liter block engine with a factory super charger sitting on top...

However, the new 2009 ZR-1 Corvette comes rated at -

620hp and 595 torque
0-60mph 3 seconds flat

Several races reported between the stock ZR1 Vette and stock C6 Z06 Vette claimed that the 7.0L 505hp Z06 Vette were neck and neck with the ZR-1 and a few Z06 owners even have even reported winning races 0-100mph..

ZR-1 owners have stated - the reasons being is that the factory supercharger heats up and creates power loss on the ZR1 after a certain period of time running the car.... Not fully heated the ZR-1 can run up to the factory specs, but after several runs the heated ZR1 reports power loss up to 100whp... Also the ZR-1 Vette weighs approx. 300lbs more then the stock Z06 Vette...

This is an on going discussion on the LSTech Forum... Many new ZR-1 owners are very dissapointed for these very reasons..

Many Vette owners are prefering the LS7 Zo6 over the LS9 ZR-1 Vettes as some of the factory claims are very questionable... However, the LS9 is a more stout motor then the 7.0 Liter LS7 Z06 motor.. Thicker cylinder walls as the LS9 comes boost ready at stock.. The LS7 has been reported to hold as much as 700whp with the stock bottom end... The LS9 goes much farther but not fully tested and reported yet.. Too new of an engine I guess..

Is there a crate price released yet?

This is basically the engine Cadillac is using in the CTS-V and utilizes the 1.9 liter Eaton TVS supercharger whereas the ZR1 has the 2.3 liter Eaton TVS. Add the endless supply of cool water to cool the intercooler and you have a serious marine engine there. In a car as Justen points out a proper water/meth injection system should handle things very nicely.

Golden age of the internal combustion engine and the freedom to use is is NOW... Enjoy it now before its too late... get ready for "change" Obama style.
