Hi guys, It's been truly years since I have really posted anything but I have been just researching and reading etc so really never left..:D
Anyway most know I did a lex conversion into a landcruiser a few years ago.. and I was looking at putting on a blower when the time came to it..
Well that time is now and I have done it..
A few details so anyone wanting to find any info can and i'll try to make it as easy as possible..
Parts
rear sump 1uzfe from a 91 soarer
Link lem 5 with a good tune
Auto that has been kitted to give a little more shift..

Started with the standard ecu but soon realised that it had to go so I got a link lem 5 for peanuts..
I got the M90 off a guy that bought a few from the shotover jet boat guys as they were changing to v8's in their boats..It was from the ford thunderbird but without the intake side of things.. and had to fabricate all of this..
anyway pictures speak a thousand words.. so here are a few that I have done over the last wee while
I investigated different options with the lower intake runners as tbo it is too expensive to buy a manifold so I thought I can make one.. These pictures are of the lower intake that I milled down using a router and jig, you can see the final version..

After all of that I needed to make the actual intake to house/mount the blower on..
So I got a mate to fold up some checker plate:eek: and I cut out the ports etc to match the lower intake runners..:D
I have done this on a very tight budget but it can be done..;)

Once I got all of the intake all folded and tigged up I made the top plate
Now the whole height thing is almost the same as the factory lower intake so Im pretty happy as I wanted the whole under bonnet thing going on..
I used rivnuts to hold the top plate on but they failed miserably and then changed to nylock nuts and washers..

Once I got that sorted I needed to cut out for the blower and mount it..
I also made up the intake to the blower using 3 1/2" pipe as I wanted the option of putting a bigger throttle body on at a later stage if needed..
I also had to get a bypass valve which ended up coming from a mini cooper..

Once all this was done, I then had to make up the various bits and bobs to plumb into the truck..
Oh forgot to mention that I really only put the blower on as I had to recond the starter motor.. from the years of thrashing that it had, 3 seized bearings and contacts were buggered

Anyway I made a few things up to plumb to truck etc.. won't bore you all with these pictures but here is one
Anyway I took it the the dyno for a tune, started off with standard injectors but soon realised that these were not going to be any good
std 251cc were at 60% duty making 70 hp and 300 ft pds @ 3100 rpm so you can see they were going to max out pretty quickly.
So I had to take the truck back home and change the injectors to some 385cc ones, these are now at around 65% duty so there is plenty more to go at a later stage..
While I was at the tuners yesterday we delaminated 1 rear tyre:eek: and it happened at around 220kph power run and not sure if we were in 3rd or 4th..so that made us take a step back a bit and only do 2nd gear power runs so we didn't blow up any tyres from there, picture of the tq figure is 2nd gear run.. I'll try to get a youtube vid to link..

here are some you tube vids of the power runs etc..

this vid was just before the tyre let go and we were starting to get into the power runs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9z6SaCQpA

This vid is Nick getting all excited.. just over 200hp @ 4700rpm and 595.68 ft pd of tq:eek: not too bad for a 2nd gear power run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyWKGERzgBI

Here is another run, once I get the printouts I'll post up the results but all in all i'm pretty happy with what I was trying to get power wise..

looks good! love to see how you guys down under are NOT afraid to make some custom stuff. seems like the 1uzfe has a fair amount of believers down there! i can count on one hand all the 1uz/5 speeds in the US, let alone 1uz/turbo-s/c

Thanks for ya comment, Im just trying to be pro active with what I have done and the info I have got from here so others can see .. it's not that hard.. Just have to give it a go..:D

Oh I also forgot to mention that we estimate the power at the wheels to be around 280+ hp in 4th but can't confirm this due to no rated tyres big enough here..lol So for big tyres Im pretty happy with the outcome..

Cheers for posting all these pics Big. I'm feeling like this is something I could do myself now. Nice job and you've saved yourself plenty of beer tokens ;-)

Bit of an update while im cruising the site..

I have changed the exhaust manifolds and made a 3" exhaust so with that it will breath a lot better,
I have also changed dif ratios from 4.11 to 4.8's front and rear, with these mods.. my tuner estimates we will have in excess of 1000 nm torque BUT we wont know for sure until dyno time as it needs to be redone to get more out of it and also get some economy out it also lol..
I'll post up results when I do this so its here for the record.. more later:D
