i loaded the other ecu map on it started her up she had oil pressure not 100% but it was up there not to really worry about.
started recording the vid for wankfactor reasons and at 2000rpm it stop dead it about .1 of sec flat.

i dont know how but the cam gear has sheared of leaving about 25mm of the cam still attached to the camgear
im not sure yet if the engine has more damage deeper as i really need to put another cam in set it all back up and rotate it by hand to see if it binds up or if the valves dont return
hmmmmmmmm cars
cheers

main thing is the jaaaapppppsssss are tight asses
they dont do regular oil changes and they just drive their cars fro afew years and get rid of the car
it sits at wrecking yard for a couple of years till it ends up with people like us
usually its a blocked oil gallery or somehting on those lines and since the 1uz has oil tubes in the head to feed oil round if oil drops press drops abit the furthest spot is the front of the cams and suddenly the bearing cap has no oil and being alloy it grabs quickly and heats up the cam and snap bolt holding cam breaks and the cam gear moves etc etc

these engines are starting to show their weeknesses lately
dont forget some are nearly 20 years old

oil starvation was the first thing i looked for on all the journals but can not see one telltale sign there was heaps of oil up there and the pressure gauge showed 75psi but it wasnt that long started either so the oil pressure was alittle low.

who nows ill whack a new cam in give everything a once over and try again the cam sensors had a little touch so i might swap it out for the drivers side one.

according to my ign leads my engine will be 20 yrs as off this year

cheers

ok so not doubting what sideshow had said about the cam seizing i ventured to the drivers side cams and this is what i found.

the culprite
drivers side intake cam shaft seized causing passenger side to break

i got a 1uz in a surf body on a hilu xchassis to fix next week
and a buggy with a 1uz coming in in afew days aswell
i better get off my arsss and do some work

sorry i dont do engines
luckily i rent some floor space in a place called SSS Automotive
best place for import engines especially if u want quality and complete kits
i love it when they get a container in which one just came in last saturday
heaps of goodies for them to sell

i have the biggest range of spare parts i can borrow and eventually buy
that helps alot when diagnosing

u woudnt happen to know how much they would be going for would you.
ideally i want a rear sump for the pick up and dipstick
i wont need the wiring harness bar a tps plug
the engine i have now is a crown

cheers
stewy

u would have to ring them
im pretty sure all their 1uzs are full kits
and i dont htink they would break them up for a cheaper price as
the rest of the parts dont sell as good

another thing is
i havmnt seen a crown 1uz for atleast 6 or more months
they are hard to get these days

i would ring dont wory bout email
they get 100 emails a day so they might get back to u eventually
phone is the best way

engine turned up late yesterday arvo seems all good on first appearances even though its been checked by the guys i bought it from ill check it myself before it goes in but should be in by sunday kids permitting lol

the old engine will be used for ANOTHER PROJECT i have in mind lol

cheers
