Hello Swap experts,

As you noticed I dont post much in this section. Why? because i dont know much about it. lol. Anyway, just wondering if you have a choice of car and you want to do a swap into the car with 1uzfe and possible 1uzfe ST or TT. Which donator car would be:
1. Easy
2. Rooomy
3. Light Weight

Your answer will be greatly appreciated.

my conversion is for a car i like, a roomy ford falcon that can be made to stop and handle well. havent had it on a weigh bridge yet but i would guess less than 1500kgs
i'd love to see a Datsun 1200 UTE with a 1UZ and five speed, should fit between towers(easy?) should be Very light weight
i think THE FLEA has to be the Next best thing
my next conversion if i have/do another will be in this order:
3. Light Weight
1. Easy

2. Rooomy

I wouldn't mind doing a swap into a mkiv supra body with the 1uz mated to a getrag 6-speed.
What I really wouldn't mind is building something along the lines of the F40 silhouette. Instead of the F40 body though I'd probably implement a JGTC supra body of some sort. I would do this only cause I love the performance stats of the F40 silhouette and the newer JGTC supra bodystyle.
My .02!

my hilux/tacoma is perfect compromise for what I want as a daily drive, its got bags of power and fuel economy is not much worse than the old 4cyl, but if dollars/time permited I would do an old corolla like fleas but with a 5spd, thats just insane!!!!

i am currently doing a MK1 ford carpi. Very small, very light, but not too tight in the engine bay or driver compartment.
65 XP falcon would be a good choice too. Full size car, but almost as light as a capri. Massive amount of room in engine bay, and available in 2 or 4 door variants.

Besides the current project of fitting a SC'd 1UZ in one of my MKIV Supra's, I'd like to have a go at shoehorning one into an old JPS Lotus Europa. I doubt that it would go in cleanly, and the gearbox would certainly have to be changed out, but I'll bet that 1UZ with 8 ITB's would really sound sweet screaming at 7000 RPM right behind the driver's head. This combination would certainly turn the 1500 lb Europa into a rocket powered roller skate.

I'm doing a 1uz into a 1200kg TORANA HATCHBACK at the moment, just need another
$6000 to complete it. Then I go on to my next project, which is for my wife, maybe.
1uz TT into a Nissan 300zx. Light and fast, just like the rana.

datto 1200 ute would be hard.
would require a rack and pinion conversion, relocated master cylinder and transmission tunnel mods.

trust me - i've looked at this option. :)

the AE86 sprinter seems a great choice, as does the 1st Gen RX7 (FB series but again, may require R+P conversion too due to steering box position).

if old floats your boat, the escort / capri option is a good one indeed with the only prob being the tranny tunnel (auto tunnel is a must) and the monster booster setup they have. relocate that and you'd have yourself a potent little vehicle.

other than that, maybe a TE cortina for full legality, as they came - in OZ - with a 250ci six cylinder.

i think there is more room in an XF engine bay than an XP and there aint much room between the shock towers and heads in my one with the 1UZ. length wise no probs. i'd reckon a escort panelvan would also be nice but trans tunnel in the auto is still too small, i was considering a V6 commodore swap into escort at one point.

300zx is not light. my TT 2 + 2 weighed more than my EB falcon

I'd like to see one in an s2000, MX-5 miata, or some other little roadster.
I've seen MX-5's with Ford 5.0 HO's in them. The rumble from those cars is wicked, then they take off and leave two strips of rubber for 20yds!! It's freaking awesome!

Imagine one of those passing you on the highway, then the BOV blasting you as it shifts and leave you behind... license plates read---> BAD 1UZ ...

Also, a third gen rx7 would be great with one. NOt as cool as the roadsters though.

For cool factor, an old camaro or firebird would be a good donor car.

I wouldn't mind doing an LH or LX Torana with a fully-built NA 1UZ, or possibly even a TT version. Done in beautiful black, with those factory flared guards and the rear spoiler changed so it reads "SL/R 4000". All that, dumped over black/silver Simmons rims in 18"...Nice!

i love the idea of the escort pannelvan, some possible cars that my family has that would be just sweat- dads '59 mark 2 shaguar (jag) or my big bros mach 1 cortina (dont know wat model it is exactly, its the little boxy 1 with the round tail lights that sorta look like there in the shape of a peace sighn.

the cortina was originaly getting 22b boxer with 4wd running gear. but that went cold cos of the lack of funds.
i would be a shame to take the jag motor out because the strait 6 just has 1 the greatest notes espicaily at about 5k rpm they just growl.

the main problem witht the jags would be getting a good radiator- the 6's over heat here in perth let alone a fi'ed 1uz

thats enough waffling

i picked up a 12month old chev 4 core radiator with twin 10in davies craigs on it for $150 out of the quokka...!

fit something like that into your jag - or a volvo 244DL radiator. they're pretty good too.

My HZ weighs only 1350kg's(with the 202 and 3spd manual), so with the 1uz and a partially stripped interior should make for a pretty light weight car(for it's size).

I put my Range Rover on the scales the other day.

1650KG with half a tank of fuel the spare wheel and hi-lift jack still attached.

If I was at the drag strip (yes I will take to the strip so I can post a slip) it would weigh about 1575kg. Not bad for a full blown 4x4.

Lextreme:

I'd have a look into the same thing, the smallest, lightest car I can stuff a 1UZFE engine + a full 4x4 system into. The car I have sort of landed on is a Opel Manta, an european 2 door coupe with an engine room big enough for the engine, 2 turbos, big intercooler and a big radiator. It also have enoght room under the chassis rails to get the full time 4x4 system in place.

It tips the scales at a 1000 kg in stock form ( 2200 lbs )

Any RWD Corolla. I think all are in the <2200 lb range.
I haven't measured it, but a Datsun 510 would be cool. My buddy has a L28, CT26 and direct port nitrous. Has run a 10.96 on slicks.
Porsche 914 (don't know how this would work).
BMW 2002.
We have to worry about tough smog laws in California, so most of my choices would be pre 1972 cars.
