Cabon under cam cover?

Hello, I'm in the process of dissembling a 1uz and there is a bit of what looks like carbon under one of the cam covers, it is from a egr equipped engine on the pcv side I'm wondering if that has something to do with it?

Yup, they're all like that. Celsior engines are cleaner due to no EGR system.
