Alternator defect

Hi all,

I have 91 LS400 with a broken altornator. (fuses are fine)
Now I pulled fro the car today. But I cant seem to find any information on how to measure the rectifier (3 pin connector on the alt itself)
So I can check to be sure it is or isnt the rectifier.
Any info on measurements on a bare alt would be a great help!

That is the regulator, not the rectifier. Are there no alternator repair shops near you?

Hey there, I'm having a similar issue with my alt. where the black and yellow (switched ignition lead) wire is only reading 11.5v when charging compared to the normal 13.5v of the main white constant power terminal on the plug. The yellow wire is the lamp lead so you'd need a testing light connected to ground to check that terminal. I have found little information on testing these circuits and plan on replacing it altogether. Let me know if you have a similar condition
