2UZ has 245 horsepower 315 ft/lb torque.
However the pre 98 1uzfe is rated at 250 bhp with 260 tq

I want to say that the two engines have similar horsepower ratings but the the 2UZ has 60 more ft/lb of torque.

The 1UZ is cammed to run higher rpms thus the more HP. I believe that in our situation, we need low end power, to climb over obstacles which the 2UZ is great for.

The 1uz has high compression pistons and needs premium or super gas
while the 2uz will run on regular.

1uz has an aluminum block while the 2uz is cast iron. I believe that it weighs 82 lbs more.

hey thanks for the info.. im used to no torque at all so the 1uz will be plenty for me.. plus i have crazy low gears behind it.

the extra torque of the 2 uz would be sweet though! .

i bet my 1uz with 40 inch tires will be alot slower than your 2uz

1UZ runs fine with mid grade believe it or not, they pull so little timing is probably why. and as far as torque goes it's pretty much 200 ft lbs at 1200 rpm and peaks around 250. By no means gutless or torqueless. and this is coming from a person who has all 3 mentioned engines, pre94 1uz, post 98 1uz and a 2uz. Albeit the extra 60 ft lbs of torque from the 2u is very nice.

Aparently the last time I took the Ltd swimming. I must have submerged the starter.

But you know what? The snorkel works.

The stater was getting worse and worse to start up. first it was 2 second delay from the time a turn the switch till the time the starter works till eventually , it took a minute for it to work.

Starter contacts went out.

Here is the whole issue. The starter is a pain in the arse to get to in my V8 Swap. I was cursing like a sailor.

He are some photos.

Took me 3 hours to do it. Sucks!

Well done nice build I had to supercharge my 1uz inorder to pull the 33s on my 2003 hilux with ease . The 2uz would be a great conversion for 4wd application I like it . Any issues with wiring or was it easy enough for the average thinker I have wired up a couple of 1uz myself.
