Hi,
Take a squiz at pic 4. Had that much twist in that rod that the bottom of the pistons started to hit the crank as the pistons had turned about 10 to 15 degrees in the bore.

I have a stock pre 95 motor here, will bolt it in to get the powerglide sorted out, then make a custom inlet and go to e85. One step at at time I think might be best.
The origional a341 trans was still shifting ok but was on its way out. When i dropped the trans oil, there was a fair bit of alloy dust in there....so a good chance to go to powerglide i think..
Cheers kris..

Yeh, seen that one, certainly done a job of it. Was it the only other one?

Definitely won't regret the move to E85 as I'm sure you have heard plenty of times, magical stuff.

How come you chose to opt for the glide instead of something with 3 gears?

Yeah , from what Ive read e85 is the tits...
I went the glide route as a dellow bellhousing came up for a good price. I have a few glide bits here as well. In hind sight, a three speed would possibly be better to get it off the line.. Im having a go at doing the box myself. Only way to learn.
What injectors are ya running? Im thinking indy blues???

Did a good number on that one

E85 is the ducks nuts. You won't need crazy shit like Indies. I have 680cc/min Evo injectors and make 400+rwkw easy enough. What sort of power are you looking to make?

It certainly is, timing and boost will be your new best friends :D

Guess it all depends on your setup and future plans. I went big all round with my fuel system to be safe, as well all know about the constant want for more. I went with Injector Dynamics 1000cc. The ID's seem to be the pick of the market at the moment. They're very nice and great to tune, almost thought they were still standard injectors in it the way it idled and drove.

Yeh, the tall first gear of the glides doesn't tend to favour heavy cars, etc. But super simple, with heaps of parts available and will take anything you can throw at them.

Hi Justin,
I have 440 cc injectors in it now, and i know i need to change them if im changing to e85. They were at just over 80% duty cycle with premo 98 fuel. So I thought indy blues might work ok.. I know they arn't as good as the IK2000, but priced a lot better.
I aim to run a 10 sec pass. So probly need 600 fwhp or there abouts...

Time for an update....
I built the power glide to handle 700 hp. Was my first auto build so fingers crossed it turns out ok. Got a 6000 stall, torque converter to suit a chev and modified it to suit. Seemed to bolt together good.
Bolted it all in last night. Looks like i will be able to use the origional trans cross member....
Hope to have it running late december...

Getting closer now.
Got it all up and running. Sounds wild with trans brake on, and coming on boost.....
Trans seems to shift gears, and goes into reverse with the trans brake on. Proof will be when i run it down the quarter how it holds up. With trans brake on, it stalls up just on 5000 rpm, prob way too high, but should be better with different cams.
Hooked up alternator, used a 6pk750 belt, worked out nice.
Planning on taking it to Heathcote drags in next week or two, to have a shake down...

Went to the drags today. Trans held up well. ran a pb of 11.3. @ 113mph. Is running slower mph, I think convertor is a bit large, at 6000rpm is dropped of peak hp. Change of top intake plenum may move up hp drop off.. Wil see. Next change is caltraks. Bent my rear spring due to trans brake. Cheers kris

Got a start on the intake plenum

Got a start on the sheet metal intake plenum. Used 6mm sheet. Getting it welded in the next few days by a mate with a tig welder.

i think I've got it...
