hey guys i picked up my project car a 1985 toyota bundera RJ70 and a 1UZ-FE to fiddle around with the other weekend and thought id post my build up on here the bundy had been fully gutted for racing but almost looks like its a parts car at the moment with the G52 gearbox in a pellet and no engine or interior lol i decided i needed a stronger gear box so i got an R151 off a mate and as soon as funds allow ill be ordering a bellhousing and clutch kit from ebay (hopefully they pretty good for $1200) then im trying to get hold of a set of vt clubsport front and rear seats

i just picked up a set of spare diffs, housings and wheel hubs that imight end up needing dunno yet

the bundy has already got a full set of airbag suspension and has rancho 9000 shocks and a lokka diff lock in the rear with shimmed lsd in the front

ill post some pics tonight when i get home from work

any ideas or advice would be appreciated

Just get the Bellhousing, Flywheel and clutch kit we'll get locally for ease of future replacement or any warranty issues

It's one I've had made up to suit the application, Now proven to work as per a factory fit and feel and as you'll have the list of the part nos once done can be gotten anywhere in aus given waiting for the order to come in. Same clutch as I put in the "Black Bitch" and now going in another few.

I'm just coming to the end of my LJ70 V8 & truck cab conversion, to buy the coversion kit over here would of cost me $3200+ but I got a clutch, flywheel & R151 to 1UZFE adapter plate from NZ for £650 :) I had to mod the 1UZFE auto bell housing by grafting in the clutch apeture and slave cylinder mounts from the R151 bell housing.

Here's a before and now picture.

wow man massive changes there looks sick guessing its a comp truck lol

i dont actually have a bellhousing at all lol so i sorta have to buy one think itll just be easier to buy the adapter bellhousing will just mean ive gotta wait a bit longer for funds XD

how long did ur conversion take? are u road registering it?

cheers sticks

Yes mate, it gets used for all sorts of competitions:) It took about a week to remove the 2L-T (boat anchor) and fit the 1UZFE and 3 months of weekends to get it to where it is now! the wiring was probably the worse job:frown: Should be done (or ready to drive) in a couple of weekends and yes it'll all be road legal:D

Mark......

i doubt it will swap over
the wiring takes a full day or 2 depending on what needs doing and condition of bundy wiring
so i would allow afew weeks if u havnt done it before
temp should work
bundy speedo is cable 1uz is electric but if bundy is 4wd speedo shpould run thru transfer anyway so should be fine
tacho depends what orig motor was in bundy u might need signal booster or tacho modified

oil light or gauge just need right sensor

rest should be basic
but absolutely nothing plugs in
except the enigne loom to the ecu but i think u know that hehehee

so its not possible to go buy for example a new male plug for the female side thats on the loom and just cut of the bundy male plug and put in the new 1uz male plug? or are they so different u just cant?

sorry if that sounds dumb but i havent even looked at the bundy wiring yet so not sure if it could be possible

cheers sticks

pretty sure bundys are very old hehe
so if its old school bundy with carbies then u need to run all new relays etc for the 1uz
then mate it to the bundy loom dont need much just afew wires once the 1uz loom is done
u cant easily buy new plugs for these
plus i always cut plugs off the harness as i try to not fk the body harness too much
i sometimes add stuff to body harness but try not to butcher it
id rather butcher the engine harness
u need to sit the 1uz harness thru the firewall and then find what all the spare bundy wires do and what all the 1uz wires do then go thru it all
but first get the correct diagram for your 1uz and start learning how the motor works
this way u will understand it better
what shits me is people who want to know how to hook things up with no fking idea on why id does this or needs that
just helps down the track if u need to diagnose a problem

so start studying for afew months then u can go wire it up hehehehe

sounds good sideshow should give me plenty to play with while im saving for other parts XD

its an 85 model lol used to have a 22r engine in it but i havent got that cause it was fkd lol a hole in the sump when ur in a mud hole generally does that

ive tried to put up photos but it wont work :( ill keep tryign but ive got another build thread on perth4x4.net in the driveway section which has photos

yay photos are working now lol here yas go

gearbox isnt the original one from the bundy it had a g52 but i got the r151 from a mate

not sure on motor year model still i havent got it off pellet so i can work on it comfortably yet cause i havent got an engine stand or crane... bring on the birthday pressies haha

but i did pull off the plastic covers the other day and the plug leads are 2003 and the timing belt looks like tis brand new so im guessing they arent originals lol

the 22r has a 4cyl tacho so the tacho will be accurate u just might need to boost the signal but try hooking tacho wire up first and see if tacho moves
looking tat the ecu plugs and the body plugs enar the ecu it might be a soarer 1uz

ok sweet lol hopefully i get an engine crane and stand soon so i can move it around a bit then ill pull off the intake manifold and see the engine number and hopefully work out year model so i can get some drawings and stuff should check if i can get a book for each car

ok so ive found out that the gearbox i got off my mate transfer comes out of the center from the rear so my bundy diff (which has a offset pumpkin) is no good for the gearbox.....

BUT LUCKILY the other week i found a leaf sprung hilux chassis out the kambalda tip and scored myself the front and rear diffs/housings and the gearbox crossmember which awesomely enough has a center pumpkin XD
so now all i gotta do is modify the diff housing to suit the airbags so hopefully its not too difficult)
and hopefully between the 2 gearbox crossmembers i wont have to move the engine gearbox much from standard position

looks like my mate gave me the wrong gearbox but he has one that is apparently right and is from a bundy so ill get that hopefully next week or something and once my bellhousing is here ill be able to start lining things up
