I'd like to know the differences between JDM and USDM ECUs for the 1UZ VVTi. I'm currently sourcing one for my Celsior motor and have access to both. I'm aware of the immobilization issues - I'm more interested in performance differences. I've read that they are pin compatible (Celsior/LS400).

1 Both have security
2 They are 99% pin compatible
3 JDM ECU wants a hydro fan and additional sensor to control it. Gives DTC 56 without them connected. Does not affect driveability
4 JDM ECU has 180 km/h limit, however with gear ratio as high as 4.1:1 it may turn into 140-150km/h
5 JDM ECU might be more special in controlling the transmission, hesitating too much before shifting a couple gears down @ pedal to the floor mode
