    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

I've moved a bunch of photos, but this forum won't let me edit old posts to fix the broken links, so here's a gallery with everything in it: http://www.retrojdm.com/GalleryView.asp?GalleryID=2

Sump I made the sump as an object in a 3D program called trueSpace. I think version 7.6 is available as a free download. If you like I can send you the 3D scene of the sump. Driveshaft There was a *very* slight vibration at around 95-100 km/h, but it wasn't enough to worry about. Just be...

Unfortunately, no. I don't have any more photos of building the gauges. Although these diagrams were very helpful... http://www.speedhut.com/gauge_dimensions_mini.asp

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

It's all good. I consider it like a free bump! The photoshop file is in 196dpi. Printing it should retain it's size, although I think it's too big for A4. You could do a test run by having a print centre do you one on A3. It's about $2 here in Australia at a place called OfficeWorks. I've been...

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Hey mate, Good to hear someone else doing their own gauge cluster :) I used VistaPrint.com to print the file as a sticker. I then layed that on top of 3mm board I'd cut to the shape I wanted. If you have photoshop, you'l have to rearrange the symbols etc to suit your needs. I'd recommend...

    B & M shifter for A340?

I've put a "TCI Auto Outlaw" pistol grip shifter in my 1981 hilux with the A341E behind a 1UZ. It works great. All I had to do was create an arm at the correct length to connect the cable to the gear selector on the box. It's not a ratchet shifter, but the same setup would work for you...

    Trade UCF11 Celsior/LS400 Part out

Hey Mick, If you still have the A341E, how much would you want for it? I'm on the Gold Coast, so I can come and pick it up. Text me if you like. It's probably easier than communicating on here :) Andrew 0410 462 766

Oh, I forgot to mention, the speedo is super accurate, even at slow speeds which I didn't expect.

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Yeah, I used the GPS speedo. The only problem is that it doesn't work in tunnels (but how many tunnels do you really go through?). Other than that it's pretty good. I've used the 0-100km/h (0-60mph) feature and recorded a 6.8 second time, and am still yet to try the 400m (quarter-mile) feature...

I made the symbols in photoshop. Here's a link to the .PSD file if you want to use them... http://www.wyatt-software.com/Hilux/Gauges.psd The indicators and high beam LEDs are from Super Cheap for $14 each, and the small LEDs are from Prime Electronics (or you could go to JayCar), but I...

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Hey Daniel, http://www.speedhut.com/ The gauges can be customised quite a lot. For example, you can choose different coloured text, backgrounds, and bezels as well as fonts and logos. You won't be dissapointed ;) Andrew

It's not really relevant to the build, but I just put timber sides on the tray to make it look even more grandpa-spec ;)

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

The original speedo on a hilux is cable driven, so I needed an electric speedo. I've decided to make an entire custom gauge cluster with led warning lights etc: 2 1/16" Water Temp, 4" 8000rpm Tacho, 4" GPS Speedo, 2 1/16" Fuel Level. All from http://www.speedhut.com/

Identify Hall Effect Speedo (3-wire) Wires

I'm confident that I got the above right. I used the following procedure to test the sensor... 12V power to 12V pin (yellow) batt negative to GND pin (pink) Multimeter lead - on GND pin (pink) Multimeter lead + on Signal pin (blue) When I turn the cog I see the voltage change from 0v to 13v

Identify Hall Effect Speedo (3-wire) Wires

I need help identifying the wires coming from the 3 wire hall effect sensor on a 1991 Soarer V8 (UZZ31) transmission (A341E). Here's the the wires I have, and what I think they're for... Rear of car, Yellow: Supply 12V to this wire? Middle, Pink: Ground? Front of car, Blue...
