Lexus SC400 LCD Climate Control Replacement

This is one of the first after market LCD available for the Lexus SC400 from 1992 to 1996.  This is one of the most common problems with the Lexus cars.  Now for the first time you can get this replacement for a quarter of the price.  Comparing the LS400 LCD vs SC400 LCD replacement, the SC400 is slightly harder, but not impossible for an average person with decent soldering skills.  Here is the instruction for removing the LCD (Part 1) Climate (Part 2) control unit.

Here are the parts must need:
1. LCD Replacement
2. Solder
3. Solder Suction
4. Solder wick

First thing you need to do is to remove the LCD unit from your car.  Once the LCD unit is removed you disconnect the face/head from the body.  There are two screws and four plastic snap locks.  Un-screw the units and carefully push into the plastic locks to separate the two units.  Once the head and body is apart, you can disconnect two major set of wires.  There are four screws you need to take out in order for the white board to come out.  Once those 4 screws come off you need a flat screw and carefully expand the plastic locks to pull out the LCD mother board.  The flat screw driver pry from inside to allow the LCD mother board to come out.  Before the board comes off, you need to disconnect this flat wire.  This is how the unit looks like after that white piece comes off.  Use a screw driver and unscrew these two little screws on each side of the board.
